An Ode to The Mamas & The Papas
Rotoscope Animation
Fueled by an admiration for the artists of the Laurel Canyon music scene of the 1960s, this rotoscope animation recreated a 1966 performance of “Dancing in the Street” by The Mamas and The Papas. The decision to only represent each member with a simple outline was meant to reflect how despite each individual doing wildly different actions, they move in ways that effortlessly blend with each other. The simplistic color palette was chosen to showcase the distinct era of time in which this music was recorded without the viewer needing to hear the audio at all.
